Vikings Sunday

Its Sunday and that means Viking Football. Grandma and Grandpa Beatty are die-hard Vikings fans and Ben broke out his new Viking outfit (courtesy of Grandpa Bob). The game is in overtime but it looks like the Redskins are going to dash any hope of the Vikings play-off aspirations. There's always next year....

Me and my animal friends

Ben not only has two parents that love him at home but two animals as well. Gaby the Grey Cat hasn't really shown too much interest in the new addition yet. He is really more concerned with his food dish and a place to sleep at night - neither which has changed since Ben came home. Bella the Brown Dog is fast becoming Ben's second mommy though. She is very concerned when Ben is fussing and wants to be around him all the time. One thing she doesn't help with is the middle of the night feedings. She seems to be able to sleep through those just fine. Overall the animals are adjusting well and so are Chris and I. Everyday brings a new challenge as we get to know Ben and he gets to know us.

Introducing...

Welcome to the Kollasch Family Blog. We wanted a way to share information with all our friends and family and not over-burden anyone with emails. Here's our story...
Chris and I welcomed Benjamin Robert Kollasch into our lives on 12/18/07 at 7:43 pm. He was 7 lbs. 10 oz. and 20.5" long. We had a pretty uneventful pregnancy (thankfully) and the birthing process went as well as can be expected. I am not looking forward to going through that anytime in the near future. Chris and my mom were in the room with me and helped bring Ben into the world. He was born with a head full of dark hair, his dad's long fingers and toes, and his mom's nose. It was an incredibly emotional experience and we are truly blessed to have a son like Ben. We spent the next day and a half in the hospital and then brought Ben home on Thursday 12/20/07. He battled a bout of jaundice that required him to have a phototherapy blanket for a few days. Luckily they are able to send one home with us so we didn't have to bring Ben to the hospital. He seems to have recovered nicely and is changing daily. Rightnow our biggest issue is trying to reset his "clock" so that he sleeps and night and not all day. We have had a few nights where Ben has kept us up because he slept all day! My parents have embraced their role as grandparents - they have been a tremendous help. Chris's mom lives just down the road from us and is also enjoying her newest grandchild.
Here are some pictures - I will keep them updated as much as possible. Enjoy!
